FAQs

Do you offer gift wrapping?

By default, all Ardent Hearts items come gift wrapped in a vintage-style theme, so they are ready for gifting! If you have multiple items in an order, each piece will be individually gift wrapped with an identifier so that you will know which item is in which box. Items ordered as sets will be wrapped in the same box (per set).

How long will it take to receive my order?

All items in my shop are hand-made and made-to-order by me, and orders are made and shipped in the order in which they are received. My turn-around time can vary depending on the time of year, but I will always have your order finished and on its way to you within 4 business days at most. Average turn-around time is 2 days.

The time it will take for your order to arrive is the *processing time* + *carrier transit time*:

*Processing time*
This is the time it will take for me to get to your order in the queue, make it, package it, and pass it on to USPS.

*Carrier transit time*
This is the time it will take USPS to deliver your package once they have it in their possession. You may choose Standard, Priority, and Express options during checkout. When viewing your cart, you may see the prices and expected delivery times for each option.

I need my order quickly, what are my options?

As noted in the previous question, you may choose an expedited shipping method. However, please note that choosing an expedited option will reduce the carrier transit time, but not my processing time.

If you feel like you may need it even sooner, please contact me via email or the website's contact form and I will be happy to address whether I can accommodate your required delivery deadline.

Is your jewelry safe for sensitive skin?

The short answer is that my jewelry is hypoallergenic for just about everyone.

When it comes to metal allergies, nickel is the usual culprit. All of the antiqued brass, antiqued silver-plated brass, antiqued copper-plated brass, and matte black metal items in my shop are lead-free and nickel-free, per my suppliers. This includes all ear wires as well. I source directly from trusted manufacturers to ensure this standard is adhered to.

How should I care for my jewelry?

Most metals tarnish naturally with exposure to the elements. This includes brass, silver, and copper, which I use in my designs. In order to reduce the likelihood of tarnish, all metal components in my designs are given at least two coats of protective lacquer. The final coat is always applied after I finish your piece for optimal protection.

That being said, no lacquer will last forever, so in order to extend the lifetime of your jewelry so that you can enjoy it for years to come, you may want to follow these basic practices:
  • Store your costume jewelry in a dry, cool place away from direct sunlight.
  • It's best to avoid wearing costume jewelry in water. Exposure to water, especially chlorinated or saltwater, can cause tarnishing or damage to the materials. Always remove your jewelry before swimming, showering, or doing dishes.
  • Avoid spraying perfume, hairspray, or lotions directly on the jewelry. Wear your jewelry after applying these products and allowing them to dry.
  • It’s advisable to remove costume jewelry before sleeping. The pressure and friction during sleep can cause stress on the pieces, leading to potential damage.
